Core principles and emphasis
– Breath as the structural foundation: All programmes are structurally built upon breathwork. We regard breathing practices—especially diaphragm-focused techniques—not merely as somatic exercises but as the primary vehicle through which cognitive functions (attention, concentration, emotional regulation, mental clarity) and social capacities (empathy, cooperation, relationship skills) are developed and sustained.
– Integrated development: Breathwork is integrated with activities that promote physical coordination (dance, yoga, somatic play), emotional literacy (recognition, expression and regulation of feelings), cognitive stimulation (attention-training, meditation, sensory exercises, music) and social learning (cooperative games, communication and community participation).
Operational scope, partnerships and governance
– The European School of Breath was established by a founding group and currently maintains one active founding member engaged in core activities.
– Programmes are currently implemented primarily in Belgium within primary and secondary schools, during and after school hours. We adapt delivery to the needs and schedules of partner schools.
– We form partnerships with experts and organisations across relevant disciplines to broaden our reach and to overcome language and geographic barriers.
Commitment
– We are committed to evidence-informed, ethically delivered programmes that prioritise children’s holistic development and community wellbeing. Our aim is not simply to teach breathing techniques but to embed breath-centred practices into the social and educational environments that shape young lives. We also aim to contribute to the accessible education on the health impacts of technological developments.
